Licensing CMS

The CMS is licensed on mySonicWALL.com the same way as other SMA licenses. See the Software Licenses section of the Dell Secure Mobile Access Administration Guide.

License Manager is an online licensing service that is used by most Sonicwall appliances. Appliances must frequently communicate with this online service to check and validate licenses. Customers can download the License Manager file from Mysonicwall.com and install it on their appliance.

Dell provides the following license options for licensing the CMS:

Free Trial — Customers can download a free trial of the CMS license from the MySonicWall portal, which enables the CMS to manage 3 appliances and 15 users for 1 month. The free trail provides the customer with a serial number and authentication code to enter in CMS console.

Base CMS License — Customers can upgrade from the free trial to a Base CMS license at little or no cost. The Base CMS license allows the CMS to monitor and manage up to 5 appliances. The Base CMS license does not have user licenses and does not expire.

Central User Licenses (Pooled Licenses) — Customers can upgrade to add user licenses. CMS User Licenses are subscription licenses and are time-limited. User license SKUs are for 1 year or 3 years (100, 500, 1000 users).

The CMS has the following license restrictions:

CMS Spike licenses are NOT supported in SMA 11.3.

CMS has no SUPPORT SKUs. The subscription license includes support costs.
