Configuring a Flow Server Role

NOTE: This role can be installed only on a Virtual Appliance (not on Windows), and is only supported on VMware ESXi.

The Flow Server role can be used in a distributed deployment of SonicWALL GMS. The primary functions of this role include the following:

•	Collect and stores flows from one or more firewall

•	Completes a report summarization

The Dell SonicWALL Universal Management Suite services run on the Flow Server Agent system.

Configure one of the following Flow Server roles:

•	Flow Server

•	All in One-Flow Server (Demo Mode Only)

Flow Server

1	Log in to the Appliance management interface.

2	Navigate to the Deployment > Roles page.

3	For the Host Role Configuration, select Flow Server.

4	Under Database Configuration, enter the IP address of the server where the database is running, in the Database Host text-field (for example, if you have an All in One server running, enter the IP address of that server).

5	Click Update.

All in One-Flow Server (Demo Mode Only)

1	Login to the Appliance management interface.

2	Navigate to the Deployment > Roles page.

3	For the Host Role Configuration, select All in One-Flow Server (Demo Mode Only).

NOTE: Under Database Configuration, it is not necessary to enter a database host, because the database is in the localhost.

4	Click Update.
