Guest Profiles

The Guest Profiles table shows the profiles you have created and enables you to add, edit, and delete profiles.

 

Name

The name of the guest profile. The Default guest profile can be edited, but not deleted.

User Name Prefix

The prefix assigned to all guests using the guest profile.

Account Lifetime

The maximum amount of elapsed time before the account of a guest user with this guest profile expires.

Session Lifetime

The maximum amount of elapsed time a guest login session remains active.

Idle Timeout

The maximum amount of elapsed time without activity before the guest session is ended.

Adding a Guest Profile

To add a profile:

Click Add below the Guest Profiles table to display the Add Guest Profile dialog.

To allow guest accounts generated from this profile to have an automatically generated user name, select the Auto-generate user name checkbox. The user name is usually the prefix plus a two- or three-digit number. By default, this feature is enabled. I

To allow guest accounts generated from this profile to have an automatically generated password, select the Auto-generate password checkbox. The generated password is a unique, eight-character, alphabetic string. By default, this feature is enabled. I

To have the account removed from the database after its lifetime expires, select the Auto-Prune Account checkbox. By default, this feature is enabled. I

To allow only a single instance of an account to be used at any one time, select the Enforce login uniqueness checkbox. By default, this feature is enabled.

To allow multiple users to login with a single account, deselect this option.

To delay the Account Expiration timer until a user logs into the account for the first time, select the Activate Account Upon First Login checkbox. This option is not selected by default.

Enter the lifetime duration of the account in the Account Lifetime field. The default value is 7.
Days (default)

If Auto-Prune Account is enabled, the account is deleted when it expires. If the Auto-Prune Account is disabled, the account remains in the list of guest accounts with an Expired status, thus allowing easy reactivation.

To Defines how long a guest login session remains active after it has been activated, specify the duration in the Session Lifetime option. By default, activation occurs the first time a guest user logs into an account.
Enter the session duration of the account in the Session Lifetime field. The default value is 1.
Hours (default)

The Session Lifetime cannot exceed the value set in the Account Lifetime.

To define the maximum time allowed when no traffic is passed on an activated guest services session, enter the duration in the Idle Timeout option. Exceeding the period defined by this setting expires the session, but the account itself remains active as long as the Account Lifetime hasn't expired.
Enter the session duration of the account in the Idle Timeout field. The default value is 10.
Minutes (default)

The Idle Timeout cannot exceed the value set in the Session Lifetime.

Optionally, enter a comment in the Comment field. The default is Auto-Generated.

Click OK to add the profile.

Editing a Guest Profile

You can edit any guest profile, including the Default guest profile.

To edit a guest profile:

The Edit Guest Profile dialog is the same as the Add Guest Profile dialog. You can edit any parameter on the dialog; for further information about these parameters, see Adding a Guest Profile .
NOTE: You cannot edit the Profile Name and user Name Prefix for the Default guest profile.

Deleting Guest Profiles

You can delete any guest profile except the Default guest profile.

To delete guest profiles:

A single guest profile, click the Delete icon in the Configure column for the profile you want to delete.

Click the Delete button.
All guest profiles in the Guest Profiles table:
Click the Delete button.
