WAN Acceleration > System

This section describes the entities that are present in the WAN Acceleration > System tabs.

System Status Tab

Displays the system details about the SonicWALL WXA series appliance including system information, time settings, and system statistics.

Interface Status Tab

Monitors the WAN Acceleration interfaces by displaying the status and statistics.

Management Tab

Displays details about the configuration of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the Syslog Server functions.

Settings Tab

Displays details about the configuration of the network policies and provides an option to browse for policies to upload.
A policy file is an XML document that captures the current configuration settings of the SonicWALL WXA series appliance. The configuration settings can then be restored on the SonicWALL WXA series appliance after a firmware upgrade or factory reset is performed.

Firmware Tab

Displays details about the current firmware and the steps for upgrading.

System Information Panel

(Read-only) Displays the following information:

 
Model Number
 
Serial Number

Time Settings Panel

Configure the time synchronization source Figure 78:45 , refresh the UTC time, or view the local time on client. The SonicWALL WXA series appliance is required to synchronize its time with the domain controller. However, you can configure an NPT server to synchronize time with the SonicWALL WXA series appliance if this works better on your network.

System Statistics Panel

(Read-only) Displays the following information:

Uptime
 
# Processes

Refresh

Refreshes the System Status tab. The refresh interval can be entered in the box to the right of the Refresh symbol. The interval can be increased to a maximum of 600 seconds.
Click the Refresh button to manually update the Device Settings tab.
Click the Pause button to stop updates on the page.

Diagnostics Report Button

Downloads a diagnostics report file. This file is sent to technical support and reviewed for diagnostic help.

Power Off Button

Shuts down the SonicWALL WXA series appliance.

Reboot Button

Reboots the SonicWALL WXA series appliance.

Set Time Button

Resets the time on the appliance. This synchronizes the SonicWALL WXA series appliance with the time on the domain controller. However, it is possible to override this by specifying an NTP server.

Use the Domain Controller for Time Synchronization: Checkbox — Select this checkbox to use the domain controller as the time synchronization source.
 
NTP Server: Text Field — Override the domain controller synchronization by specifying an NTP server.
 
Validate Button — Validates that an NTP server is connected.
 
Apply Button — Applies all changes.
 
Cancel Button — Cancels the operation.

Interface Status Tab

Refresh

Refreshes the Interface Status tab. The refresh interval can be entered in the text field. The interval can be increased to a maximum of 600 seconds.
Click the Refresh button to manually update the Interface Status tab.
Click the Pause button to stop updates on the page.

Status Panel

Displays the following (Read-Only) information:

MTU

DHCP is used to obtain this information. You can also configure the MTU in this panel, see Figure 78:47 .

Statistics Panel

Displays the following (Read-Only) information:

 
# Bytes
 
Packet Count
 
Packet Errors
 
Collisions
 
Actual MTU

Ping Gateway

Sends a ping request to the SonicWALL WXA series appliance. The SonicWALL NSA/TZ series appliance uses Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) to ping the gateway.

Renew DHCP Lease

Renews the DHCP lease for the SonicWALL WXA series appliance. Use this feature if the DHCP server settings are changed after the appliance is configured.

Maximum Transmission Unit

 
MTU: Text Field — The Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU).
 
Apply Button — Applies all changes.
 
Cancel Button — Cancels the operation.

Management Tab

SNMP Panel

Enables the simple network monitoring protocol server. Add read-only and read-write communities for a specific client IP or subnet, see Figure 78:49 .

Syslog Server Panel

Sets the server IP address that sends log messages.

Apply Changes Button

Applies all changes.

Add New Community Pop-Up Window

 

Enter the community name being used to communicate with the SNMP feature.

Select none, read-only, or read-write.

Select the Any Source checkbox remove all source restrictions.

Select the Source checkbox to enter a source manually.

Applies all changes.

Cancels the operation.

Settings Tab

Refresh

Refreshes the Policies tab.

Settings Panel

The default (active settings) is automatically activated and cannot be deleted. Choose the default settings (default.xml), then manage the settings by downloading, activating, or deleting.

Upload Settings XML File Panel

Search for settings XML file to upload from your PC. Once settings are uploaded, they are added to the Settings panel.

Firmware Tab

Current Settings Panel

Allows you to download a copy of the current settings. Perform this before making any changes to the firmware.

Firmware Upgrade Panel

Configures the SonicWALL WXA series appliance with the latest firmware. A step-by-step procedure walks you through the firmware upgrade process.

Factory Reset Panel

Restores the SonicWALL WXA series appliance to the factory default settings. The following reset option is available:
